Rates

Rates:

In the U.S., translation is usually charged by the word. The per-word rate depends on the subject matter, the amount of research needed, the legibility of the original document (poorly copied or faxed documents may incur extra cost), the quality of writing in the original document (sentences that need to be untangled before they can be translated will incur extra costs), the turnaround time, and formatting requirements.

Please contact me for a quote. I cannot provide a price quote without seeing the entire document you need translated. The following scale of rates is a general indication only:

Translation: $0.18 - $0.22 per word

Editing / Proofreading: $40.00 per hour

Minimum Fee: $30

Please Note: This minimum fee applies to all jobs

Rush Charges: 25% surcharge for a turnaround time of less than 1 business day

Literary Translation: Rates for literary translation are not quoted by word, but are based on an evaluation of the time and effort required for an entire project. Please contact me to discuss further.

Payment Methods:

I accept payment by personal check, cashier check, money order, bank transfer, or through PayPal.

Payments originating outside the U.S. will incur a surcharge of $10 - $20 (depending on the country) to cover bank fees.

Payment Procedure:

Unless you represent a verifiable translation agency or a company with an accounts payable department, payment must be received in advance.
