Rates

Translation rates depend on the subject matter, the amount of research needed, the legibility of the original document (poorly copied or faxed documents may incur extra cost), the quality of writing in the original document (sentences that need to be untangled before they can be translated will incur extra costs), the turnaround time, and formatting requirements.

Please contact me for a quote. I cannot provide a price quote without seeing the entire document. The following scale of rates is a general indication only:

  • Translation: starting at $0.20 per word*
  • Editing / Proofreading: $40.00 per hour
  • Minimum Fee: $40
  • Rush Charge: 25% surcharge for a turnaround time of less than 1 business day
  • Notarized Certification: $15

* My translation process includes one careful proofreading pass against the original document, followed by a second proofreading and editing of the translation, to ensure an error-free and highly readable product.

Literary Translation: Rates for literary translation are not quoted by the word, but are based on an evaluation of the time and effort required for an entire project. Please contact me to discuss further.

Payment Terms:

Unless you represent a verifiable translation agency or a company with an accounts payable department, payment must be received in advance.
